Job Description:

The Air Force Armament Museum seeks a knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate Docent to provide exceptional experiences for our diverse group of museum visitors. The docent will provide guided tours of the museum, sharing the fascinating history and science behind the Air Force's weaponry and aircraft, from World War II era to the present.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct guided tours of the museum for groups of various sizes and ages, including school groups, tourists, and veteran groups.

2. Be well-versed in the museum's exhibits and be able to answer visitors' questions accurately and thoroughly.

3. Facilitate interactive learning experiences, workshops, and other educational programs.

4. Ensure the safety of the museum’s collections during tours and programs.

5. Assist in the development of new tours and educational programs based on the museum's current and future exhibits.

6. Contribute to the museum's mission of education and engagement by maintaining a friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor.

7. Assist in the training of new docents and volunteers.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in History, Education, Museum Studies, or related field preferred.

2. Prior experience in a museum, educational, or public speaking setting.

3. Strong interest in and knowledge of military history, specifically Air Force history and armaments.

4. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to engage a diverse audience, including children and adults.

6. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

7. Must be able to stand for extended periods and navigate through the museum.

8. Ability to pass a background check.
